PROGRAM DETAILS

Division Ages & Transfers
We typically follow Little League recommendations for division ages. When you register a child the registration system will guide you to the age-specific division for your child based on their league age. The league does consider requests to move a player up or down to a different division, usually based on their skill level and experience.

You may contact the league before or after you register to discuss or request a transfer.

Evaluations
We perform evaluations for the Minors – Player Pitch, Majors and sometimes Juniors divisions. Evaluations are an opportunity to gauge players skills across fundamentals like fielding, throwing, batting, and pitching so that we can make teams as even as possible at these levels.

Our evaluations are not tryouts, all kids that register will have an opportunity to play in every game during the season.

Practices
There is typically a 2-3-week period before Spring and Fall season games begin where teams in all divisions practice. The number of practices depends on the division, and they are typically scheduled at the discretion of the team coach, with scheduling assistance from the league.

Some practices are at different area fields within reasonable proximity to Miller Park.

Uniforms
Parents/guardians must provide pants, socks, and protective cups. The league provides jerseys and hats.

Equipment
Parents/guardians must provide a glove and rubber baseball cleats. Players may use their own bats and helmets, but these are also provided by the league or shared among teammates. The league also provides catchers gear for each team in a division that utilizes catchers.

BATS: All bats used in Little League must be USABat standard. Look for the USA Baseball logo, and you can see a complete list of approved bats here.

Volunteers & Coaching
Lynchburg Little League is an all-volunteer organization and there are many ways to participate. Help is always needed with evaluations, coaching, team parenting, post-season tournaments, etc.

If you are interested in coaching a team in any of our divisions, you should notify the league. Prospective coaches may register for one of the volunteer coach positions through Sports Connect. If you are not sure how to register online please contact the league at [email protected]. All managers and coaches must be approved by the league.
